  1. The taxpayer objects to the Property Appraiser's value assessment of the taxpayer's
    real or personal property.
  2. The taxpayer's application for any of the following exemptions or special use classifications
    is denied:
      ·homestead exemption
      ·any other tax exemption as provided by Chapter 196, Florida Statutes or
      ·any special use classification as provided by Chapter 193, Florida Statutes.

PLEASE READ ALL THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION

BEFORE SUBMITTING A PETITION

 

YOU MAY SUBMIT AN ELECTRONIC PETITION IF:

 

1) YOU ARE APPEALING THE VALUE OF YOUR PROPERTY OR IF YOU ARE APPEALING THE DENIAL OF AN

    EXEMPTION/CLASSIFICATION.  There is a $15.00 NON-REFUNDABLE fee to file a petition for a single parcel to the Value

    Adjustment Board.  All electronically filed petitions will also incur a 3.5% NON-REFUNDABLE credit card processing fee.

 

2) YOU ARE FILING A PETITION THAT CONTAINS MULTIPLE NON-CONTIGUOUS PARCELS.  You must complete a petition

    for each parcel and a $15.00 NON-REFUNDABLE filing fee plus a 3.5% NON-REFUNDABLE credit card fee will be

    required for each petition. 

 

Petitions for contiguous properties must be submitted by mail or in person to the Value Adjustment Board.  Pursuant to F.S. 193.011(3)(e) and (f), these petitions must be accompanied by a determination from the Property Appraiser's Office that the properties are substantially similar.  The Florida Department of Revenue has issued Form DR-486MU (Attachment to Single Joint Petition for Multiple Units Filing found below) for use with contiguous properties.  Please contact the Board Records Department at (727) 464-3458 or view the VAB website for more information regarding contiguous properties.

 

Please be advised that pursuant to Rule 12D-9.015(2) F.A.C., agents must provide their license number on the petition or must provide a letter of authorization from the taxpayer.  The letter of authorization may be faxed to (727) 464-4716, e-mailed to Clerk.VAB@mypinellasclerk.org, or sent via U.S. mail to: Board Records Department, 315 Court Street, 5th Floor, Clearwater, FL  33756. 

 

 

The deadlines for submitting petitions for the the 2019 tax cycle are:

PETITIONS APPEALING THE DENIAL OF TIMELY FILED APPLICATIONS FOR EXEMPTION OR CLASSIFICATION MUST BE RECEIVED BY 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2019.

PETITIONS APPEALING THE DENIAL OF LATE FILED APPLICATIONS FOR EXEMPTION OR CLASSIFICATION OR APPEALING THE VALUE OF REAL OR PERSONAL PROPERTY MUST BE RECEIVED BY

5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2019.

 

Petitions must be received by the Clerk to the Value Adjustment Board on or before these deadlines or they will be considered late and subject to a good cause determination.  Online filing will not be available after September 13, 2019 because petitioners must also submit written reasons for submitting petitions after the filing deadline.
